Our cedar shiplap is extremely popular, due to its beautiful modern look.  A great addition to all external claddings projects! The shiplap profile provides a fantastic look, but also great durability and strength. These boards are perfect for structures like sheds, and exterior walls of properties and buildings due to the clean stylish look that it provides whilst also implementing a water tight structure. Home grown cedar shiplap will have a slightly paler red and brown colour with straight and open grains. You may also find more knots on these boards, which in our opinion, add character and uniqueness.
Cedar shiplap is such a versatile profile of cladding as it can be used inside as well as outside and for various reasons including kitchen walls, bathroom walls, sheds and exterior walls to name a few. The reason they can be used inside is because they are untreated boards. The sweet, aromatic smells of both types of cedar produce different features to the board adding to the appeal and beauty of them.
Along with our Osmo Stain and cedar’s natural long life you can be sure to rely on this timber for many years and to keep it’s a naturally beautiful colour. Eventually over time going towards a Silvery, grey-ish colour.
A sustainable timber that is sourced in the UK very often In Devon! Largely reducing the carbon footprint.Â
The only real difference between Homegrown Cedar Cladding and Imported is Homegrown has a much more open grain, giving a more rustic appearance – that many customers actually prefer – starting with the usual red/brown colour and ‘silvering’ over time as it weathers.Â
